Hi, I wanted to introduce myself. I am Rhonda Shea and I live in Alberta.
Next year marks the 75th anniversary for the CSMLS. To celebrate this very special occasion, CSMLS has allocated funding to each province to commemorate this event. A delegate from each province has also been selected to participate in the 75th anniversary planning committee. Each provincial delegate plans and oversees the events and manages the funding for his/her represented province. I am the delegate for Alberta.
On September 16 & 17, I had the opportunity to present my preliminary ideas to the CSMLS and meet with the delegates from the other provinces. The meeting was very productive, as many ideas and networks were generated.
Planning a province-wide celebration event is difficult at best, as there are many challenges that must be addressed. Thus, I had to come up with an idea that would touch as many laboratory professionals provincially as possible. I will discuss my proposed ideas in another Blog entry very soon.
What I need from you:
- Volunteers – I need one volunteer from each organization that employs CSMLS registered people (includes service providers and educational institutions) to help determine characteristics we want nominees to embody – time commitment is minimal – more details to follow at a later date
- Contact information – I need to contact the person/people within your organization that oversee(s) the planning of the National Medical Laboratory Week (NMLW) events at each site – this is to ensure we can disseminate materials in a timely fashion to all CSMLS members
- Communication – I need a commitment that communication that is sent will be forwarded to your staff – I will also need a contact person from your communications department that I can work with throughout this process
- Numbers – I need to know how many people from your organization are CSMLS members – this will assist in figuring out logistics
The goal of this celebration is to engage laboratory staff and to promote “Col-LAB-oration” between all laboratory professionals provincially and nationally. This is the perfect opportunity for the laboratory to shine and to let the world know the important role we play in patient care.
Please stay tuned for more information including promotional materials to post at each site. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
